Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on this part of the island of Montreal that is known as"the West Island. It is the West Island, to those not familiar with it, is an extensive part that stretches from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel grew up on the island and is commonly called her birthplace. It is true that she stayed there for a short duration. Brugel grew in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. At the beginning of her life she hoped to become the next big thing in her career, but a sudden growth spurt made it impossible. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. Once I outgrew male partners at that point, I gave up. A lot of former dancers go on to acting and in the case of Brugel, it was a nudge from a high school drama teacher which pushed her in the right direction. A teacher suggested that she try out for a school production. She was able to audition and be cast in the role of Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she graduated with a Master of Fine Arts at York University. Since then, Brugel's been in over 60 productions both big and small. Most notable was when she landed the role of Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel played the role of Rita in the Handmaid's Tale which was filmed over ten years ago.
